System Selection & Implementation

A vendor neutral process for choosing and implementing the system your business will run on for years to come.

TALK TO AJC ABOUT YOUR PROJECT

We help mid-market companies select and implement the right ERP or business system to support how the business actually works and where it needs to go next. Our process aligns system requirements with operations, workflows, data needs, leadership goals, and future AI Enablement opportunities.

Then we stay involved through implementation, bringing the project leadership, structure, accountability, and follow through needed to move from software decision to business results. The goal isn't simply a new system. It's a stronger digital foundation, a single source of operational truth, and a business better prepared for what comes next.

*Custom and "off-the-shelf" systems evaluation is vendor neutral and system agnostic. No kickbacks or referral fees from any vendor. Your business comes first.

Selection FAQs

How long does system selection typically take?

Most selection processes run 8 to 12 weeks, depending on how many departments are involved and how complex the current environment is. We move quickly without skipping the steps that prevent an expensive wrong choice.

How many vendors do you typically evaluate?

We usually narrow the field to 3 to 5 serious contenders after an initial market scan, based on your specific requirements. We'd rather bring you a short, well-vetted list than an overwhelming one.

Do you get any compensation from software vendors?

No. Our evaluation is vendor neutral and system agnostic. We accept no kickbacks or referral fees from any software company. Our recommendation is based entirely on fit for your business.

What if we already have a system in mind?

That's common, and it's a fine starting point. We'll still run a structured evaluation to confirm it's the right fit, or surface something better suited that you may not have considered, before you commit budget to it.

Can you help us build the business case for leadership or ownership?

Yes. Part of our process includes building a clear, defensible business case, covering cost, risk, timeline, and expected outcomes, so you can bring it to leadership or ownership with confidence.

Implementation FAQs

Do you manage the implementation yourselves, or work with the vendor's team?

Both. We provide project leadership on your side of the table, coordinating with the vendor's implementation team, your internal staff, and any other consultants involved, so nothing falls through the cracks between parties.

What's the biggest risk during implementation?

Scope creep and unclear ownership. Systems fail to deliver value far more often from poor implementation discipline than from picking the wrong software. That's why our Fractional PMO model exists: someone has to own the follow through.

How involved does our team need to be?

More than most companies expect going in, especially subject matter experts who understand current processes. We structure the work to respect their time while still getting the input we need at the right moments.

What happens after go-live?

We stay engaged through a stabilization period to catch and resolve issues quickly, then transition to a lighter-touch optimization phase. Many clients continue with us afterward through a Fractional PMO engagement for ongoing system and process improvements.

Can this work alongside AI Enablement?

Yes, and it often should. A clean, well-implemented system is usually the foundation that makes AI Enablement possible. We frequently sequence the two together for clients ready to modernize on both fronts.
